Well, I’ve shopped my stash and it looks like I’ll be using my vintage pattern Advance 8436 for my Autumn of 1000 Shirtdresses project. I am thinking of using bodice and sleeves view 2 with the skirt from view 1 will do nicely thank you. I may also eliminate one front bodice pocket and keep one on the right side.
The Autumn of 1000 Shirtdresses” is a sewing challenge hosted by Idle Fancy that runs from October 10 through December 10. There’s plenty of time for you to play along too. It’s so cool at the end of sewing challenges to see the eye candy from all over the world. There’s a link over to the right in the sidebar with all the what-nots about the challenge.
Truly, there are a variety of shirtwaist dress styles. For my figure I stay away from the full button down variety opting for top buttons with a no button skirt. The first vintage style shirtwaist that I made had three buttons on the front bodice , a side zipper, and a plain skirt. Now that I told you I can’t simply remake that one, now can I? So, the question is do I shop from my stash or purchase a new shirtwaist pattern?
Stay tuned and see the Lyrically styled shirtwaist dress December 10. It’ll be here before you know it.
